It’s working well now.. The referral computer system will decide whether LBW decision is right or not in accordance with whether the “projected ball” is hitting the stumps or not. This will take the wavering guesses of the error-prone human brain of our international paneled umpires out of the equation. From now on.. there will be computer’s invariable guessing at work.. that’s so better.

Since the Review System Computer shows whether the ball is hitting the stumps.. umpire’s job will become very simple.. and flow of the game is also restored.

Entire procedure is very slick
[1]. Check for foot NO-BALL
[2]. Checking whether the ball pitched OUTSIDE-THE-LEG-STUMP
[3]. Where is the IMPACT WITH THE PAD
[4]. Any BAT INVOLVED
[5]. Whether the PROJECTED BALL is hitting/kissing any stump

Who will gain from this ? Obviously the bowlers.. they will get lot more LBW decisions especially against those top order batsmen.

Who will lose from this ? High profile batsmen of the likes of Tendulkars and Pontings. Earlier when umpires had the control over the review system in determining LBW decisions, they were often influenced by the weight of bucketful of runs the batsmen had.. Now, that’s no longer the case now.

Cricket is becoming more fairer with the advent of technology. I am sure if technology was there in the past, fate of lot of matches would have been drastically different.

Cricket is still largely boring, thanks to those barren pitches countries prepare nowadays, giving the bowlers nothing to operate upon. If ICC can do something about it, cricket will benefit immensely.

PS: I wish those “kissing the leg stumps” LBW decisions were given out too.. why take away that when most of the catches are only “kissing the edge of the bat” ?

Pakistan’s top court has declared an amnesty that had protected the president from corruption charges was illegal, state and private TV outlets reported. The ruling Wednesday paves the way for challenges to President Asif Ali Zardari’s shaky rule and adds to political turbulence just as the U.S. wants Islamabad to step up its fight against militants.

Either he’s a total idiot or he can’t communicate well in english language or he is totally bluffing everything. Given that he kept on making error after error on CNN-IBN’s STATE OF THE NATION program, I personally think it’s a plain case of being aloof with the modern wavelength.  I don’t want to preach morality to stupid indian politicians, but at least in this 24×7 media age, they should learn how to be correct word-to-word when on the national TV ! It seems these politicians are not even connected with the new era of global thinking and way of life [or he's totally bluffing].

How can someone say ladies should not go out after 10 pm ? Wonder where they summon so much ’stupidity’ from ?

Existence of such politicians only points to the inability of the Goan people in electing a competent leader. People who elects these kinds of politicians into the Indian Parliament should be the real THICKOS in the entire story.

Crime happens everywhere in the world. Even the most policed cities [ like NYC ] have rape stories to tell.. but at least authorities will do whatever they can in each case to take it to  its logical conclusion. This seems to be not happening in Goa. Now, Mr. John ‘alleged-rapist’ Fernandes is missing.. or absconding..  Congrats Goan Police…  BRILLIANT JOB….

The World Health Organisation (WHO) said earlier today that polio has reemerged in several countries in Africa. WHO Africa regional director Luis Gomes Sambo made the announcement at the beginning of a Zimbabwe conference regarding child immunisation.

“Several polio-free countries have suffered setback in polio eradication. The number of countries with polio outbreaks following wild poliovirus importations has increased from thirteen to nineteen in 2009,” Sambo commented.

He also added that “we need better management of the available resources for immunization, human resources, technologies and we need increased funding to improve the capacity of governments to purchase vaccines and we need also greater mobilization of people. We need to inform people that to bring their people to vaccination campaigns.”

The Zimbabwe conference takes place at a time when there has been a considerable decline of under-five mortality in the region. Sambo, however, said that sub-Saharan Africa accounted for 51% of all under-five deaths globally in 2008. At this rate, he noted, Africa cannot achieve the fourth UN Millennium Development Goal to reduce under-five mortality rate by two-thirds between 1990 and 2015.

The countries that have had increases in polio included Angola, Chad, and Democratic Republic of the Congo. The WHO attributed the rise mostly to lack of immunisations. The agency estimates that 75% of children on the continent receive vaccines, and has said it will try to raise the number to 85%.

BCCI is the cash cow of international cricket, because they have the hen that lays golden eggs (cricket crazy Indian public). They live for profit, and will do anything and take any approach to maximize the ‘P factor’. They at one point in the past argued (in an Indian court) that Indian cricket team is not property of India, but it is primarily the team of BCCI. Anyway.. one dont understand why they want to kill the hen that gives them their golden eggs.

In recent years, pitches in India are going flatter and flatter.. ODIs are seeing regular scores closer to 300 and 350  and Test cricket is seeing 600s and 700s…

Batters are literally killing the bowlers. No wonder India don’t have any quality pacers like their neighbour Pakistan.

Somebody should put some sense into BCCI powerlots that their equation of More Runs = More Money maybe working for a little while, but on a bigger picture, it is raping cricket of its most essense.. balance between bat and ball.
