Russian military is at war with Georgia on the freedom of South Ossetia, a breakaway region from Georgia. Georgia who itself won the freedom from former Soviet Union in 1990s feels Russia is violating the international boundaries and is engaged in aggressive actions against the unarmed civilians. Russians inturn says they are protecting their peacekeeping forces against an Georgian aggression. It seems like South Ossetia has become some what like a Kashmir for Russia and Georgia Even though one can admit there are lot of differences in the case of Georgia and Kashmir, but at the end of the day it is a war, possibly a long one, for a piece of land. It is being widly believed that Kashmir, the northern tip of India, was forcefully added against the wishes of the people of Kashmir to the rest of the country by the newly formed India during early independence years. In the recent South Ossetian election which was widly said to be rigged showed a overwelming majority in favor of independene from Georgia. It is very clear the only way this can be solved is through dialogue, if not issue will bigger with time and it will result in “all-out violence”, which will only cause further trouble to the entire world as Geogia is rapidly getting in to the cradle of NATO. World dont really need another european war, it just cannot handle it.
